|SOME NOTES ON MEDIEVAL ENGLISH GENEALOGY|
Volume 12, part 1, page 413:
JOHN DE SUDELEY, s. and h.(c) [of Harold de Sudeley (living 1086)]
Idem [Royce, Register of Winchcombe], vol. i, pp. 221, 223; Round, Feudal England, pp. 179, 180.
According to Complete Peerage, volume 11, appendix D, page 109, note l, John was the third, not the eldest, son of Harold. K. S. B. Keats-Rohan [Domesday Descendants, p. 725] also makes John the third son.
[This contradiction was pointed out by Tim Powys-Lybbe in February 2003.
