Charter of Thomas de Broughton, knight, granting to Roger de Newynton, the rector of the church of Hanwell, and John Gerad, the rector of the church of Shenington, and their heirs, lands and tenements in the in vill of Tanworth which is called Cheswick. Broughton, 12 July 1365.

Hanwell, Shenington and Broughton are in Oxfordshire; Cheswick is in the parish of Tanworth, in Warwickshire. The second grantee's surname is spelled 'Gerard' in a related document. The shield on the seal bears the arms of Broughton (azure a cross engrailed argent).

Translation:
Know those present and future that I, Thomas de Broughton, knight, have given, granted and by this my present charter confirmed to Sir Roger de Newynton, rector of the church of Hannewelle, and to Sir John Gerad, rector of the church of Schenindone, and their heirs all lands and tenements, rents and services with woods, meadows, pastures, pasturage, ways and waters together with all reversions and also with all other commodities and appurtenances to the said lands and tenements in the vill of Tonneworthe, which is called Chesewik. To have and to hold all the aforesaid lands and tenements, rents and services with all their appurtenances, as is above-said, of the chief lords of that fee by the services thereupon due and accustomed. And I, indeed, the aforesaid Thomas, and my heirs shall warrant and discharge forever all the aforesaid lands and tenements with their appurtenances, as is above-said, to the aforesaid Roger and John and their heirs. In testimony of which matter, I have affixed my seal. With these witnesses: Sir John de Vernon, John de Evesham, Walter atte Halle, Ralph Brys and others. Dated at Broughton on the 12th day of July in the 39th year of the reign of King Edward III [12 July 1365].
